Kid News: "Hero Rat" Retires

An African giant pouched rat named Magawa has retired from her heroic work of sniffing out landmines in Cambodia. A landmine is a bomb that's hidden in grass or under the ground during wartime and meant to explode when enemy tanks roll over them. Sometimes landmines are still hidden even after a war has ended, which is dangerous for people living in the area. Listen to learn why African giant pouched rats are able to identify landmines and find out how an animal charity is honoring Magawa for her years of service.
